Flipper Controller Privacy Policy

This policy describes the native Mac and iPhone development candidates of Flipper Controller. Public distribution is not open.

Effective and last updated October 14, 2026.

At a glance

  • No account, advertising, analytics or cloud service.
  • Device information stays in memory for the session.
  • Favorites, lesson progress, notebook entries and tag notes stay locally on your device.
  • You choose when to save or share files and when to pair and send text to another device.

Who is responsible

Flipper Controller is created by Tristin Hassell and published through Gathered Commons Press LLC. The party responsible for this policy is Gathered Commons Press LLC. Contact us through Flipper Controller support page or at hello@gatheredcommonspress.com.

Your connected Flipper

The Mac app communicates directly with the USB device you select. The iPhone app uses Bluetooth and requests permission when connecting; opening the library does not start a Bluetooth scan. Button commands are sent to the connected Flipper, and its screen and device information are shown in the app. Device information remains in memory for the session.

Library and saved files

The package library, descriptions and guide are bundled locally. Saving or sharing a screen image or package happens only when you choose it. Copies you save or share are controlled by you and any destination you select. Removing the app does not remove copies already exported or shared.

Radio Lab and native utilities

Package favorites, marked lessons and the experiment notebook are stored locally. Notebook text saves as you type. Native dice, coin and timer utilities do not use a cloud service. Bluetooth advertisement discovery begins only when you select its button and request permission; it shows nearby advertising names and signal-strength readings without connecting to or controlling those peripherals. Displayed names are not verified identities.

Contactless and NFC readings

The Mac tool communicates with a compatible external reader you select and can request its card-identifier response. The iPhone tool requests NFC permission for an NDEF-message scan you start. These are different readings; an NDEF scan does not supply the tag’s UID, low-frequency RFID data or protected card contents. A reading and any saved tag note remain local unless you explicitly choose to send the displayed text to a paired device. Physical hardware compatibility is still being checked.

Manual phone-to-Mac text sharing

Phone Link uses local-network discovery only after you start advertising or discovery. You select a peer and approve its invitation. The app requests Local Network access for this connection and requires channel encryption; peer display names do not establish a verified identity. When you choose Send, the text goes directly to the selected connected device. Messages are limited to 16 KB of text, with no remote commands or package payloads. The receiving device keeps the newest 20 notes, including the peer’s display name and receipt time, in its local app storage. Older notes are replaced as new ones arrive. Delete received notes removes that device’s saved copies after confirmation. Stopping the link or going into the background disconnects it, and pairing is not automatically restored. A note already sent to another device stays there until deleted there.

Publisher websites

Selecting a publisher link opens that website in your browser. Its operator receives the normal information associated with your web request and applies its own privacy policy. Browsing the offline library does not require opening these links.

Other apps

Flipper Controller does not read another app’s data. No login or connected cloud account is required.

Messages you send us

If you write to us through the contact form or by email, we receive your name, email address and message and use them only to reply and to improve the app. The website privacy policy explains how long we keep these messages. Please leave passwords, access keys and other people’s private records out of your message.

Your requests

Information the app keeps on your own device or computer can be viewed, exported and deleted there. Information held by a service you connect is controlled by them, as described above. To ask about information you have sent us, or to have it deleted, contact us as above. We respond within 30 days. California residents have these rights under California law, and we extend them to everyone.

Changes to this policy

If a future version changes what the app stores or sends, we will update this page before that version is released and change the date above.
