What to include
- Your device model and system version.
- The Story Circle version. Send feedback in the app’s About screen fills it in for you.
- What you were trying to do, what you expected, and what happened.
Please leave out passwords, access keys, and private records about other people. If we need a file, we’ll suggest a safe way to share it.
Common questions
If you’re struggling.
Story Circle’s Wellness mode is a journal, not a medical service. In the US you can call or text 988, the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, at any time. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 911 or your local emergency number.
Where are my stories saved?
On your iPhone or iPad. Use the Share sheet to keep a copy elsewhere, as text or as an EPUB or PDF book.
How do I move my writing to a new device?
For the whole app, restore an iCloud or computer backup that includes Story Circle. For journal pages and photographs, save a password-protected journal backup and restore it in the app on the new device. Restoring adds missing items and keeps existing pages. Memory files let you exchange memoir accounts; ordinary book exports do not restore a story project.
I forgot my journal-backup password.
We do not receive your password or backup and cannot recover either. If the journal is still on your device, save another backup with a password you can keep safely.
Does App Lock protect a PDF or Memory file I share?
No. App Lock protects access to the app’s screens. Ordinary PDF, EPUB and Markdown copies and shared Memory files are not encrypted. Use a journal backup when you need a password-protected copy.
What should I check before sharing a Memory file?
It can include names, photographs, separate accounts, earlier wording and unresolved differences. Agree with contributors about who should receive it. Clearing the visible text of an account does not necessarily remove earlier wording.
Does deleting a journal item remove every copy?
It removes the item from the current journal. A recovery copy may keep it until a later save, and prepared sharing files can remain locally. Delete the app to remove its local storage. Manage exported files and device backups separately wherever you saved them.
Voice drafts aren’t available.
They need on-device speech recognition for your language. Check Settings › Privacy & Security › Microphone and Speech Recognition, and make sure your language supports on-device dictation.
What is this week’s season?
A themed prompt built into the app that changes every week, with no connection needed. Its button starts a new pass-the-phone story.
Where are my story memory recordings?
In the app’s protected storage on your device. They leave it only if you choose Save or share the recording.
I deleted a story project by mistake.
Deleting a story project also removes it from the app’s recovery copy. We do not hold a copy of your writing. Check whether you have an earlier device backup or an export you saved elsewhere.
