Common questions
Why are response tests unavailable on my iPhone?
The local writing model needs a compatible iPhone, iOS 26 or later, and availability on that device. If it is unavailable, you can still edit skills and profiles. This edition does not send the test to a cloud service as a fallback.
Can Windows or Android use my ChatGPT sign-in?
These editions use the local model-service connection described on the product page. Windows accepts a service on the same PC. Android requires you to approve an unencrypted connection to a private numeric address on your local network. The server you choose controls its processing. No model is bundled or downloaded for you.
Are the Mac document desk and mobile skill tools identical?
No. Mac keeps the full project, chat and document workflow and its existing assistant connections. The other editions focus on local authoring, profile directions and reviewed skill tests. Hardware checks are still pending, and there is no automatic workspace synchronization between editions.
Are the included profiles separate agents or accounts?
They are editable instruction sets used with a connection you already have. Nine starting profiles cover planning, source reading, writing, editing, criticism and testing, including three profiles with explicit leftist philosophical, economic and political approaches. You can change the directions and save versions. No model or account is included.
What do Voice & Method settings change?
They change the instructions sent with that profile. You can adjust reasoning, teaching, expression, evidence and response form, then read the resulting directions in the request preview. A preset changes these style settings; it does not train a model, enable tools or guarantee that an answer follows them.
Why does an original-versus-draft comparison make two requests?
One request uses the original saved profile and one uses your current draft, with the same saved skill, test case and connection. Review both before starting. Replies can differ for reasons beyond the instruction change, so compare the actual text rather than treating a higher rating as proof.
Do test results grade accuracy or reasoning automatically?
No. You enter the ratings. The simple checks look for text you required or forbade; they do not judge whether a claim is true or an argument is valid. Skill Studio runs only after your review, with at most three profiles in a regular batch.
Does exporting a skill install it everywhere?
No. Review the SKILL.md text and choose where to save it. The file is an unencrypted copy and does not install itself in another app. Private notes and instructions can be included, so inspect it before sharing.
Which password does the Keychain prompt need?
A system request for the login Keychain belongs to macOS. It normally uses the Mac login Keychain password, which can differ from a recently changed Mac password. The app has no Mac-password field. Do not delete the encryption key to address an access problem.
Is the backup password my ChatGPT password?
No. Use the recovery passphrase chosen when that backup was created. Keep it separately from the archive; the app cannot recover a forgotten passphrase.
Does an assistant replace documents automatically?
No. Review a proposed edit before accepting it. The app keeps a version and refuses to replace a changed source with a stale proposal.
Does it sync with Reason Circle?
There is no automatic synchronization. Preview and export an argument file, then review its import in the other app.
